DID Press: Pakistan’s military says separate insurgent attacks in Balochistan have killed 29 police officers and 11 soldiers, marking one of the deadliest waves of violence in the province in recent months.

According to military spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the total death toll from attacks since Monday has reached 42, including four civilians.
He said Pakistani security forces responded with a series of operations that killed 54 insurgents. Chaudhry also alleged that “a number of Afghan nationals” were involved in the attacks and vowed that security forces would pursue those responsible, along with anyone providing support or shelter.
The military said dozens of insurgents attacked a police post guarding the Mangi Dam project in Ziarat district on Monday. During the assault, 18 police officers were abducted and nine others were killed.
In a separate attack on Wednesday, gunmen ambushed a military vehicle on a highway in Balochistan, killing 11 soldiers.
