Axios: US Approved Saudi Airstrike on Sanaa Airport

DID Press: Saudi Arabia’s airstrike on Yemen’s Sanaa International Airport was carried out with prior knowledge and approval from the United States, according to a report by Axios citing informed sources.

The US news outlet reported that Washington was briefed on the details of the operation before the strikes were launched and gave its approval for the attack.

Sanaa International Airport, one of Yemen’s key civilian infrastructure facilities, has been targeted repeatedly by Saudi-led airstrikes in recent years.

The Houthi movement (Ansar Allah) condemned the latest strike, describing it as a violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and an obstacle to ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions.

The Axios report comes as diplomatic initiatives to de-escalate tensions in the region continue, while Washington’s role in developments in Yemen remains under close international scrutiny.
