Iran Eases Health Insurance Registration for Foreign Nationals

DID Press: Iran has simplified health insurance registration for foreign nationals by removing the requirement for applicants to use a mobile phone number registered in their own name and introducing a group registration option.

Under the updated rules for the Samah system, foreign residents can now register for health insurance without using a personal SIM card registered under their own name, making the process more accessible.

According to the new guidelines, registration is available only through the unique 10-digit identification code listed on an Amayesh card or the unique code issued by Kafalat (sponsorship) offices.

Authorities have also introduced a group registration feature, allowing families and groups of foreign nationals to complete the insurance enrollment process more efficiently.

Holders of residency passports, family passports, and residency booklets have been advised to verify that their unique identification codes are up to date through Kafalat offices before registering, as discrepancies may delay or prevent enrollment.

Officials noted, however, that the Samah system has not yet been fully integrated with Iran’s foreign nationals database. Until that process is completed, some applicants may continue to experience technical or registration-related difficulties.
