DID Press: Russia has expressed deep concern over the renewed military confrontation involving Iran and the United States, calling on all sides to return to constructive dialogue to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.
The statement was issued following a meeting in Moscow between Dmitry Lyubinsky, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, and Hamid Ahmadi, Acting Director General of the Human Rights Department at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a statement, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said Moscow had expressed “deep concern” over recent developments and the resumption of military confrontations surrounding Iran, stressing the need to restart negotiations aimed at achieving sustainable regional peace and stability.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed several key international human rights issues. Russia emphasized continued cooperation within the United Nations framework and the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said Ahmadi’s visit to Moscow was part of ongoing consultations between the foreign ministries of Russia and Iran.
