Istanbul Court Issues International Arrest Warrant for Netanyahu

DID Press: An Istanbul court has issued an international arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over allegations related to the Israeli attack on the humanitarian aid flotilla Sumud and complaints accusing Israeli officials of genocide and crimes against humanity.

The Istanbul High Court said the decision was made following a review of the case involving the Israeli military operation against the Sumud humanitarian flotilla, which was carrying aid and civilian activists, as well as multiple legal complaints concerning alleged violations of international law.

According to regional media reports, the court stated that the attack on the flotilla constituted a serious violation of international humanitarian and human rights law and placed responsibility on Israel’s prime minister.

The warrant could increase legal and political pressure on Netanyahu as international proceedings continue over the Gaza war and allegations of violations against civilians.

Turkish judicial authorities said the decision could be pursued through international legal cooperation mechanisms and may lead to official requests related to arrest measures or travel restrictions.
