Lavrov Challenges Arab States Over Silence on US, Israeli Strikes on Iran

DID Press: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov challenged Arab countries over their response to the conflict with Iran, asking whether they had condemned what he described as US and Israeli attacks on a school in Iran that killed 170 students.

Speaking at a news conference, Lavrov responded to reported calls from Arab ambassadors urging Russia to help restrain Iran, saying: “Did you condemn the US and Israeli attacks? For example, did you condemn the killing of 170 schoolgirls?”

Lavrov’s remarks accused Arab governments of applying double standards in their response to developments in the region.

According to reports, the Russian foreign minister made the comments in response to appeals from Arab states for Iran to halt its retaliatory attacks.
