England Thrash France to Claim World Cup Bronze

DID Press: England secured third place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a thrilling 6-4 victory over France, in the highest-scoring third-place match in tournament history.

England raced into a 4-0 halftime lead through goals from Declan Rice, Ezri Konsa, and a first-half brace by Bukayo Saka. France responded after the break, with Kylian Mbappé scoring twice to spark a comeback, but Saka completed his hat-trick before Jude Bellingham sealed the victory with England’s sixth goal.

The result earned England its best World Cup finish since winning the 1966 title and marked the country’s first World Cup podium finish in six decades.

Despite France’s defeat, Mbappé reached 22 career World Cup goals, becoming the competition’s all-time leading scorer.
