DID Press: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it carried out a new wave of drone attacks against U.S. military installations in Kuwait, saying the operation targeted air defense systems, drone facilities, and accommodations for American personnel. The claims have not been independently verified.
According to a series of IRGC statements issued early Thursday, the strikes formed part of the 23rd phase of Operation “Saegheh.” The group said explosions and large fires occurred at Ali Al Salem Air Base and Camp Adairi, with flames reportedly visible from several kilometers away.
In its Statement No. 44, the IRGC claimed the attacks destroyed a Patriot air defense system, a hangar housing MQ-9 Reaper drones, and a large military equipment warehouse. It also said facilities used to accommodate U.S. personnel and two helicopter hangars at Camp Adairi were struck, alleging that a number of American troops were killed or wounded.
The IRGC further said the operation included a strike on a communications tower, describing it as retaliation for what it called recent U.S. attacks on communications infrastructure inside Iran. The statement also asserted that the Strait of Hormuz remains under Iranian control and warned that vessels attempting to transit the waterway without coordination would face a “decisive response.”
Addressing the Kuwaiti public, the IRGC said U.S. military bases on Kuwaiti territory were “occupied enclaves” under American authority, adding that its operations were directed at U.S. military facilities rather than the host country.
Separately, Arab media reported explosions near the Jordanian port of Aqaba and said a U.S. Air Force E-3G Sentry airborne warning and control aircraft transmitted the emergency 7700 squawk code while flying over Saudi Arabia. Those reports have not been independently confirmed.
