Radio Hood Broadcast Manager Detained by Taliban in Nangarhar

DID Press: Local sources in eastern Afghanistan say Azizullah Aziz, the broadcast manager of Radio Hood and a schoolteacher, has been detained by Taliban authorities following a raid on his home in Nangarhar province.

According to the sources, officials from the Taliban’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice raided the residence on Wednesday night, halted a private music gathering and arrested Aziz along with several others.

While the other detainees were reportedly released later, Aziz remains in custody, according to local sources.

The incident comes amid growing concerns over restrictions on media freedom in Afghanistan. It follows the recent sentencing of two journalists in Kabul to three years in prison, raising renewed concerns about increasing pressure on journalists and media workers under Taliban rule.
