Afghanistan Issues Flash Flood Alert for 13 Provinces

DID Press: Afghanistan’s Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, flash floods, and strong dust-laden winds across 13 provinces on Sunday, urging residents in vulnerable areas to take precautionary measures.

According to the Taliban-run Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, the provinces of Kapisa, Panjshir, Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Badakhshan, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar, and Nuristan are expected to be affected by severe weather conditions. Rainfall is forecast to range between 10 mm and 35 mm across the affected areas.

The department also warned of strong winds accompanied by dust storms in parts of central, eastern, southern, southeastern, and western Afghanistan, raising the risk of reduced visibility and localized disruptions.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Preparedness Authority urged residents, particularly those living near rivers, valleys, and flood-prone areas, to avoid high-risk locations and take necessary safety precautions due to the increased likelihood of flash flooding.
