Taliban Official Says Iran Was First to Aid Nuristan Flood Victims

DID Press: Taliban governor of Nuristan Province has praised Iran for its assistance to communities affected by recent flooding, saying Tehran was the first country to provide aid to residents during the emergency.

Zain-ul-Abidin Abid, the Taliban governor of Nuristan, thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its humanitarian support, stating that Iran responded quickly to help flood-affected communities in the province.

Abid said the assistance arrived at a time when residents of the flood-hit areas were in urgent need of emergency relief and humanitarian support, adding that Iran’s rapid response helped ease some of the immediate hardships facing affected families.

He also said that despite what he described as Iran’s own wartime challenges, Iranian authorities had not forgotten the Afghan people and continued to support flood victims in Nuristan.

The Taliban governor described the assistance as a reflection of good neighborly relations, brotherhood, and longstanding ties between the peoples of Iran and Afghanistan, expressing hope that humanitarian support for affected families would continue.
