Drone Strike Hits Saudi Aramco Facility, Damaging Storage Units in Abqaiq

DID Press: Newly released images from Saudi Arabia’s Abqaiq oil facility show damage to parts of storage infrastructure and precautionary measures aimed at preventing the spread of fire following a reported drone attack on the site.

Yemen’s armed forces announced on Monday that they had targeted the Abqaiq oil facilities with drones. Saudi authorities initially said they had intercepted the attacking drones, but subsequent reports indicated that the facility sustained significant damage and that operations at the oil processing complex were disrupted.

Images from the site show cooling covers placed over some storage units, reportedly as a measure to reduce heat transfer and prevent flames from spreading to nearby tanks.

However, the exact extent of damage to the storage facilities and the reason behind installing the protective covers have not been independently verified.
