Rocket Attack Targets Taliban Post as Badakhshan Tensions Escalate
DID Press: A rocket attack targeted a Taliban checkpoint in Afghanistan’s northeastern province of Badakhshan, according to local sources, underscoring growing security tensions as anti-Taliban activity intensifies across the province.

Local sources said the checkpoint, located in the Dorahi-e Argo area opposite Badakhshan University in Faizabad, came under attack on Wednesday evening. Witnesses reported hearing sporadic gunfire in the aftermath of the strike.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and Taliban authorities have not issued an official statement on the incident.
The attack comes amid an increase in reported operations by anti-Taliban groups across Badakhshan. Local sources have reported attacks targeting Taliban positions in Yaftal, Daraim, Zebak, Kashm and several other districts in recent weeks.
Sources familiar with the situation also said the Taliban have deployed additional forces to the province and dispatched senior commanders to coordinate a broader security operation in response to the escalating attacks.
Badakhshan has emerged in recent months as one of Afghanistan’s main flashpoints, with reports pointing to a steady rise in clashes between Taliban forces and armed opposition groups.
