DID Press: Iranian military and security officials have warned that any regional country providing military, logistical or operational support to the United States in a conflict against Iran would face direct consequences, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.
A series of statements issued by senior Iranian commanders and security officials over recent months outlines what Tehran describes as a strengthened deterrence strategy. Iranian officials argue that any country allowing its territory, infrastructure or facilities to be used for military operations against Iran would risk becoming directly involved in the conflict.
Ali Abdollahi said regional governments should avoid aligning with Washington, warning that any country acting as a “defensive shield” for the United States would face severe consequences if hostilities expanded.
Separately, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr highlighted the potential economic implications of continued tensions, saying that further escalation could disrupt shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and other strategic maritime chokepoints, with repercussions extending to global energy markets.
Former deputy inspector of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, Mohammad Jafar Asadi, said Iran’s armed forces were fully prepared to respond to any attack, asserting that any party targeting Iran would receive a “decisive response.”
An unnamed senior Iranian security official also dismissed U.S. media reports about possible strikes on Iranian infrastructure, saying Tehran had prepared contingency plans that would include retaliatory measures against Israeli strategic infrastructure as well as U.S. energy-related assets in the region.
The statements collectively indicate that Tehran is seeking to reinforce its deterrence posture by warning regional governments that military, security or logistical cooperation with the United States in any future operation against Iran would be viewed as direct participation in the conflict. Iranian officials have also linked the issue to energy security and maritime trade, underscoring the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz in any potential escalation.
