Hezbollah Leader Rejects Direct Talks With Israel as ‘Humiliation’

DID Press: Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem said recent understandings between Iran and the United States helped halt Israeli military operations, rejected direct negotiations with Israel as yielding only “humiliation,” and said there were no obstacles to future talks between Hezbollah and Syria’s leadership.

Qassem said the recent Iran–U.S. understanding had halted Israeli military actions and prevented Israel from achieving its objectives. According to him, Tehran made an end to Israeli attacks a key condition, and Washington ultimately accepted a ceasefire.

Criticizing direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, Qassem argued that such talks had produced “nothing but humiliation and concessions.

” He urged the Lebanese government to reject U.S. pressure and instead focus on safeguarding national sovereignty, strengthening the Lebanese army and establishing a timetable for Israel’s withdrawal.

Addressing developments in Iran, Qassem described the death of the Martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as a symbol of “dignity and the continuation of the resistance path.

” He said the large public gatherings in Iran reflected continued public support for the Islamic Revolution and added that the leadership of Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei would pave the way for “greater victories.

“Qassem also said there were no obstacles to a meeting between Hezbollah and Syria’s leadership, adding that such talks would take place at an appropriate time and by mutual agreement.

He described a stable Syria as vital to Lebanon’s security and a stable Lebanon as a strategic partner for Syria.
