DID Press: A US Army AH-64 Apache military helicopter crashed in a field in central Texas, killing both people aboard.
Officials at Fort Hood said the helicopter crashed while conducting a routine training flight.
The crash sparked a large fire at the scene, prompting the evacuation of several nearby homes as the flames spread.
The cause of the crash remains unknown, and the Fort Hood Criminal Investigation Division has taken responsibility for investigating the incident.
Fort Hood, covering nearly 215,000 acres, is one of the U.S. Army’s major bases for training and deploying heavy forces.
Previously, in 2015, four soldiers were killed when a Black Hawk helicopter crashed during military exercises in the area.
