France: No Normalization with Taliban Without Human Rights Progress
DID Press: Paris has set clear conditions for engagement with the Taliban, saying normalization of relations will not be possible until there is progress on human rights, respect for the rights of women and girls, counterterrorism efforts and movement toward an inclusive government.

France has clarified its position on the Taliban, stating that normalization of relations with the group will depend on its compliance with international obligations.
The French Foreign Ministry said the human rights situation, particularly the Taliban’s treatment of women and girls, is one of the main criteria determining the level of France’s engagement with the group.
Paris also stressed the need to combat terrorism and establish an inclusive government in Afghanistan, saying normalization of relations will not be possible without meeting these conditions.
France has also said it is working toward the creation of an international mechanism to investigate and document human rights violations and crimes committed in Afghanistan.
