81 Afghan Traders Return, Invest $68 Million and Create 4,600 Jobs

DID Press: The Taliban government says 81 Afghan traders and industrialists have returned to Afghanistan over the past two years, investing a combined $68 million and creating more than 4,600 direct jobs.

Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban government, said the 81 traders and industrialists had returned to Afghanistan since the beginning of 1446 in the Islamic lunar calendar.

According to Fitrat, one of the returnees was classified as a high-level investor, 74 as medium-level investors and 14 as low-level investors. He said 288 jeribs of land had also been allocated to support their economic activities in industrial parks.

Fitrat added that the returning traders and industrialists have so far invested a total of $68 million, generating direct employment for 4,661 people.
