Fresh Clashes Reported Between Taliban and Freedom Front in Badakhshan

DID Press: Fighting has resumed between forces of the Afghanistan Freedom Front and the Taliban in Zibak district of Badakhshan province, according to local sources.

The clashes reportedly began on Tuesday evening, September 3 in the Afghan Solar Hijri calendar, and were continuing at the time of reporting.

Local sources said fighting resumed after a brief lull. No confirmed information was immediately available on possible casualties or the circumstances that triggered the latest confrontation.

The Freedom Front has reported several attacks on Taliban positions in Zibak in recent days, claiming to have inflicted heavy casualties on Taliban forces. These claims have not been independently verified.

Zibak has emerged in recent weeks as one of the main flashpoints of armed confrontation between the Taliban and anti-Taliban groups. Local sources say increased activity by the Freedom Front has prompted the Taliban to reinforce positions along the border areas of Badakhshan.
