Secret Taliban Delegation Visits Germany Over Afghan Migrant Returns

DID Press: A three-member Taliban delegation has reportedly traveled to Germany in an unannounced visit aimed at laying the technical groundwork for the return of more Afghan migrants to Afghanistan, according to German broadcaster NDR.

The delegation reportedly traveled to Germany after stopping in Qatar and obtaining 30-day visas from the German mission in Doha. The officials are expected to remain in Germany for approximately three weeks.

Germany’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the delegation’s presence, saying the purpose of the visit is to establish the technical mechanisms needed to facilitate the return of Afghan migrants.

According to reports, the Taliban representatives will be responsible for issuing documents recognized by the group for deportation procedures.

The delegation is currently based at the Afghan Embassy in Berlin and is expected to travel to Afghanistan’s consulates in Bonn and Munich during its stay.

The reported visit comes amid efforts by Germany to expand the return of Afghan nationals, while the Taliban seeks greater involvement in documentation and other technical aspects of the process.
