Taliban: Afghanistan Will Soon No Longer Need Foreign Professors

DID Press: Neda Mohammad Nadeem, the Taliban’s Minister of Higher Education, has said that expanding postgraduate programs inside Afghanistan will help develop the country’s academic and technical workforce and eventually reduce its dependence on foreign professors.

During a visit to Zabul University, Nadeem said the establishment and expansion of master’s-level programs would provide greater opportunities for training qualified scientific and technical specialists within the country.

He added that, if the process continues, Afghanistan would in the near future become self-sufficient in providing university professors and academic personnel.

Nadeem said the purpose of his visit was to assess conditions at the university, hear the concerns of professors and students, and identify possible solutions.

He also emphasized the need to improve the quality of technical education while giving attention to students’ religious and ideological education.
