Taliban Claim Afghanistan Passport Climbs 13 Places in Global Ranking

DID Press: Taliban’s General Directorate of Passports says Afghanistan’s passport has improved its position in the global rankings, rising from 116th to 103rd place.

According to the directorate, the Afghan passport ranked 116th in 2021 and has now moved up to 103rd globally. The Taliban authority attributed the reported improvement to administrative reforms, better service quality and faster passport issuance.

The directorate said efforts to reform the institution and improve passport services are continuing.

However, the claim conflicts with the latest Henley Passport Index, which continues to rank the Afghan passport as the weakest passport in the world in terms of visa-free access.
