DID Press: The nuclear-powered U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln arrived at Thailand’s Laem Chabang port on Wednesday after spending 286 days at sea, ending one of the longest and most demanding deployments of its recent history.
The Nimitz-class carrier, carrying about 5,000 sailors and Marines, spent nearly seven months operating in the Middle East, including participation in U.S. military operations against Iran and the enforcement of a major naval blockade. The arrival in Thailand marks the ship’s first full port visit since its deployment began in November 2025.
The stop in Thailand is intended to provide the crew with an opportunity to rest and recover before the carrier continues its journey back to the United States. Thai authorities said the visit is scheduled for about five days and is not connected to a new military operation.
The unusually long deployment had previously raised concerns about deteriorating onboard conditions, supply shortages and the psychological pressure on crew members. Reports in recent weeks also highlighted concerns over sailors’ mental health and alleged suicide attempts during the prolonged mission.
The USS Abraham Lincoln’s arrival at Laem Chabang is being viewed as a significant respite for its crew after months of sustained operations and extended periods without a full port call.
