ADB to Expand Support for Afghan People

DID Press: Masatsugu Kanda, president of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), says the bank will expand its support for the people of Afghanistan, with a new approach focused on maintaining essential services, strengthening community resilience and creating more livelihood opportunities.

Kanda said in a post on X that the ADB has supported Afghanistan since 2022 through trusted partners in areas including food security, health and education.

He added that as humanitarian needs increase and conditions in Afghanistan become more fragile, the bank remains committed to providing assistance.

Kanda stressed that the ADB’s assistance would be delivered under strict oversight and accountability, with particular attention to ensuring that women benefit from the programmes, especially through women-led initiatives.
