DID Press: Ambassadors of European Union member states in Brussels have agreed to add 1,646 new individuals and entities to the EU sanctions list against Russia. The move is considered the largest single expansion of EU sanctions against Moscow since the start of the war in Ukraine.

According to Euronews, the sanctions package includes 743 individuals and 826 entities linked to Russia’s military operations in Ukraine, as well as 77 members of local parliaments in areas under Russian control.

The decision is expected to receive final approval next Monday at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg. If finalized, the total number of individuals and entities subject to EU sanctions against Russia will rise to around 4,650.
