Taliban IM, EU Envoy Discuss Cooperation and Regional Stability

DID Press: Sirajuddin Haqqani, Taliban administration’s interior minister, has met with Thomas Frellesen, the European Union’s special envoy for Afghanistan, to discuss expanding engagement between the two sides, Afghanistan’s security situation and regional stability.

According to information released by the Taliban administration’s Ministry of Interior, the discussions also covered counter-narcotics efforts, the situation of Afghan migrants and their return, humanitarian concerns, and regional initiatives to address tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The two sides also stressed the importance of maintaining dialogue and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, according to the ministry. The meeting comes as the European Union continues diplomatic engagement with Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
