Türkiye Urges Israel to End Violations of Syria’s Sovereignty
DID Press: Türkiye’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations has condemned Israeli attacks and military activities in southern Syria, calling on Israel to immediately end actions that heighten tensions and fully comply with the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement between Israeli and Syrian Forces.

Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting, Ahmet Yıldız, Türkiye’s permanent representative to the UN, said Israel’s continued violations of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity were undermining the country’s prospects for economic recovery and demonstrating disregard for international law.
Yıldız expressed serious concern over the situation in southern Syria, saying Israel’s military incursions and expansionist actions and statements in the area had gone beyond acceptable limits.
He also referred to renewed Israeli incursions along the so-called Sofa 53 line in Quneitra Governorate, describing them as an attempt to impose a new reality on the ground.
The Turkish envoy called for full implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 497, and demanded Israel’s complete withdrawal from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
Meanwhile, Claudio Cordone, Deputy Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria, also called on Israel at Monday’s Security Council meeting to stop violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Cordone stressed that diplomacy was the only way to reach an agreement on security arrangements consistent with international law.
The 1974 agreement established arrangements for separating Israeli and Syrian forces, with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) tasked with monitoring its implementation.
