DID Press: Thousands of protesters clashed with riot police in Tirana, the capital of Albania, during anti-government demonstrations that saw several government buildings set on fire. The clashes left 14 police officers injured and resulted in the arrest of 35 people.

According to reports, the demonstrations initially began in opposition to a tourism project linked to the family of US President Donald Trump. However, the protests gradually expanded into a broader movement against the government, with demonstrators demanding the resignation of Albania’s prime minister.
The unrest highlights growing political tensions in Albania, as opposition to the tourism project has evolved into wider calls for political change.
