DID Press: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that Iran’s defensive capabilities extend beyond its missile arsenal, arguing that the Iranian people, national unity and domestic cohesion are also key components of the country’s defence.

Speaking virtually on Sunday, October 18, during a session to review the proposed defence minister, Pezeshkian discussed the ministry’s plans to strengthen Iran’s defence capabilities. He said Iran had no intention of invading any country but would firmly resist any attack.
According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, Pezeshkian said Iran had not initiated a war against any country in the past two centuries and had no intention of attacking other nations. However, he stressed that if Iran came under attack, it would defend its territory with determination and courage, even at the cost of its people’s lives.
He added that Iran would not allow its adversaries to covet its territory, just as Tehran made no claims to the territory of other countries.
