Sanaa Official Accuses Saudi-Backed Forces of Selling Yemeni Prisoners

DID Press: Abdulqader al-Murtada, head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs in the Sanaa-based authorities, has accused Saudi-backed factions in Aden of selling some Yemeni prisoners captured during recent fighting to Saudi Arabia.

Al-Murtada said the committee had received information indicating that the prisoners were transferred first to Mukalla, in eastern Yemen, and then to Saudi Arabia. He described the alleged transfer as a crime against the prisoners and held Saudi Arabia responsible for their lives and safety.

He called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to investigate the allegations, press Saudi Arabia to disclose the prisoners’ whereabouts and secure access for visits to verify their condition.
