Afghanistan to Face Thailand in First FIFA Festival Knockout Match

DID Press: Afghanistan’s under-15 national football team will face Thailand today in its first Level C knockout match at the FIFA International Youth Football Festival, following three victories in the group stage.

The match is scheduled to take place on Wednesday in Baku, Azerbaijan, as part of the Level C knockout stage of the FIFA youth football festival.

Afghanistan delivered a competitive performance in the group stage, collecting nine points from victories over Sierra Leone, Djibouti and Sudan. However, the team lost its other two matches against Türkiye and Russia, finishing third in its group and qualifying for the Level C knockout stage.

Afghanistan must now overcome Thailand to continue its campaign. A victory would give the team an opportunity to advance to the next rounds of the placement competition, which will determine the teams’ final rankings.

The festival features teams representing 189 countries and is among FIFA’s international youth football events for players under the age of 15.
