WSJ: Vance Sends Letter to Iran to Explore Renewed Talks

DID Press: US Vice President JD Vance has sent a letter to Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, at the direction of President Donald Trump, to explore the possibility of resuming negotiations aimed at ending the war between the two countries, The Wall Street Journal reported.

According to the report, Vance wants to determine whether Washington and Tehran share sufficient common ground to persuade Trump to refrain from resuming military attacks in the coming weeks.

Citing its sources, The Wall Street Journal reported that the letter did not contain a specific peace proposal.

The newspaper also reported that, despite publicly supporting military action against Iran, Vance has privately expressed doubts about the need to continue military operations.

Trump previously said the United States could launch new attacks against Iran following the midterm elections to Congress.
