Kabul’s Major 500-kV Arghandi Substation Nears Completion

DID Press: Afghanistan’s Ministry of Energy and Water says construction of the 500-kilovolt Arghandi substation in Kabul is 97% complete.

Once operational, the project is expected to help reduce power outages and strengthen the country’s electricity transmission network across 13 provinces.

Mullah Noorulhadi Adel, the ministry’s media official, said the completion and commissioning of the substation would help reduce electricity shortages in Kabul and 12 other provinces.

The Arghandi substation is considered a major energy infrastructure project aimed at strengthening Afghanistan’s power grid and improving the transmission and distribution of imported electricity from Turkmenistan.
