Trump Claims He Could Have Won Afghanistan War in 3 Weeks

DID Press: US President Donald Trump has claimed that he could have won the war in Afghanistan within three weeks.

Speaking at a campaign rally for the US midterm elections in Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday, Trump criticised his predecessors for failing to secure victory in the Afghanistan war.

He said previous US administrations had lacked a clear objective for winning wars, adding: “I could have won this war in three weeks.”

Trump also made a similar claim about the Vietnam War, saying he could have brought that conflict to an end in one week.

The United States launched its military operation in Afghanistan in October 2001, following the September 11 attacks. The war lasted nearly 20 years and ended in August 2021 with the complete withdrawal of US forces from the country.
