Haqqani: Taliban Provides Support to More Than 394,000 Orphans

DID Press: Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s interior minister, has said the group is currently providing care and support to more than 394,000 orphaned children.

Haqqani made the remarks during a visit to an orphanage in Khost province, where he stressed the importance of proper upbringing and addressing the children’s living conditions and educational needs.

According to Haqqani, the figure includes children whose fathers were killed while serving in the Taliban, members of the former Afghan government, and civilians who have lost their fathers.

However, Haqqani did not clarify whether the Taliban’s support programme also covers orphans whose civilian fathers were killed in the group’s terrorist and suicide attacks.
