AFC Asian Cup 2027 Postponed; New Dates Set for December 2027

DID Press: The 2027 AFC Asian Cup, originally scheduled to take place from January 7 to February 5, 2027, in Saudi Arabia, has been postponed, with the tournament now scheduled to run from December 23, 2027, to January 21, 2028.

According to Reuters, the decision was announced on November 3, 2026, following consultations between the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the tournament’s local organising committee and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.

The postponement comes amid exceptional regional circumstances and logistical challenges affecting international travel and tournament preparations, Reuters reported.

Under the revised schedule, the 19th edition of the continental championship will be held in Saudi Arabia from December 23, 2027, to January 21, 2028.

The tournament will feature 24 national teams competing for the Asian title. The revised dates are to be submitted to FIFA for final approval.
