Doha Process Working Groups Begin Two-Day Meeting in Uzbekistan

DID Press: A two-day meeting of the Doha Process working groups on counter-narcotics and private-sector support began on Thursday in Termez, Uzbekistan, according to Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, deputy spokesman for the Taliban-run Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Takal said a delegation from relevant government departments, led by Sayed Mohiuddin Sadat, head of the ministry’s UN and International Conferences Department, is attending the meeting.

Representatives of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), international organisations, Doha Process member states—including host country Uzbekistan—as well as private-sector representatives and experts are also taking part.

According to the report, discussions will focus on standards for Afghan agricultural products, certification procedures and export readiness, alternative livelihoods, and inclusive economic growth.

Participants are also expected to exchange views on strengthening the private sector, improving access to markets, and identifying practical avenues for cooperation.

The meeting will continue until November 5.
