Russia: ISIS Uses Artificial Intelligence for Recruitment

DID Press: International terrorist organisations, particularly ISIS-Khorasan in Afghanistan and the al-Qaeda network, are making extensive use of online platforms to identify targets, recruit members and promote extremist ideology, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has said.

Mikhail Maksimovich, deputy head of the SVR, made the remarks at the first security expert meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Plus (SCO Plus).

He said the groups use artificial intelligence-generated content to produce and distribute propaganda in local languages, targeting specific ethnic communities.

According to Maksimovich, the material includes written content, audio recordings and videos containing instructions on the use of firearms, improvised explosive devices and drones equipped with explosives.
