Germany is ready to host the third Bonn Conference, German FM Heiko Maas stressed during a joint press conference with his Afghan counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani in capital Kabul on Monday.
On Sunday, the German Foreign Minister (FM) Heiko Maas entered northern Balkh province in an unannounced visit.
“Germany is committed to the responsibility which we have assumed as the second largest donor and contributor of troops in Afghanistan,” said Maas.

Mr Maas also said that his country is ready to host the third Bonn conference if needed and supported the ongoing peace efforts.
“Intra-Afghan dialogue is the only solution to the Afghan crisis,” he accentuated.
Referring to the support of the Afghan armed forces in the current situation, the German FM added that “the recent achievements must be preserved in the peace talks”.

Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani also said that the Afghan government supports peace efforts, but any attempt for peace that the Afghan government would be ignored will not be supported by Kabul.
