Presence of Jafari Religious Scholars in Supreme Judicial Council ‘Essential’: Shia Ulema Council
Afghanistan’s Shia Ulema council called on the Taliban to form an inclusive government as soon as possible which must consider freedom of religion and sects. The council stressed that the problem of Afghanistan will not be resolved without establishing an inclusive government.
Addressing a gathering on Tuesday in Kabul, Shia religious scholars emphasized resolving the current crises, saying that the new government should be established as soon as possible.
According to the members of this council, forming an inclusive government in agreement with various factions, on the one hand, resolve the problems, and on the other hand, the presence of elites from all ethnicities will pave the way for better development and better service to the people.
Afghanistan’s Shia Ulema council is ready to cooperate with the Taliban movement in forming a new government provided that their legal demands will be fulfilled, said Sayed Hussain Alemi Balkhi.
“The Taliban movement must make every effort to protect the lives, property, and human dignity of the citizens as per the order of the Prophet,” he said.
According to him, In the current situation in which people are suffering from poverty, the new government must reduce calamities by increasing job opportunities.
He praised the Taliban’s announcement of a general amnesty, saying that some irresponsible individuals have carried out bad demeanors which Taliban officials should take it seriously if they want to gain public trust.
The council also emphasized that after the formation of a new government, efforts should be made to hold elections so that all citizens have the right to vote without discrimination.
Freedom of religion and sects, considering other sects in the formation of the Supreme Judicial Council, creating special courts for Jafari jurisprudence, protecting human rights and women rights according to the rules of Sharia, paving the way for education were among other demands of the Shia Ulema Council.
“There should not be any law against the beliefs of the people and the international human rights treaties should be observed to the extent that do not contradict religious values,” Shia Ulema Council stressed.
Reconstruction of war-torn areas, economic growth, and the implementation of development projects, the fight against corruption, and poppy cultivation should be among the priorities of the future government.
