We are Taking action to end Child Labour in Afghanistan: WFP
DID Press: World Food Program (WFP) says it is taking action to end child labour in Afghanistan as poverty rises and more children become victims of exploitation.
On World Day against child labour, WFP tweeted that they “are raising awareness and taking action to end child labour in all its forms in Afghanistan and beyond around the world.”
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, meanwhile, said that today, 160 million children worldwide are victims of child labour.
According to him, almost 1 in 10 children is a victim of child labour which is shameful.
“On this End Child Labor Day, we must commit to redouble efforts to stop this harmful practice and protect children from exploitation,” Guterres added.
It is worth mentioning that child labour has increased in the country following the takeover by the Taliban.
