Caretaker Government Rejects HRW Report on Violations of Women’s Rights

DID Press: Taliban caretaker government rejected the recent Human Rights Watch (HRW) report, denying allegations of women’s rights violations and the deprivation of girls’ education in Afghanistan. It emphasized that these issues are internal matters.

Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the caretaker government, on Wednesday (August 6, 2025), strongly rejected the allegations mentioned in the Human Rights Watch report regarding violations of women’s rights and the denial of education to girls in Afghanistan.

He stressed that the rights of all Afghanistan citizens are being upheld and that the issue of women’s education is an internal matter that should be defined within the framework of Islamic Sharia.

In its report, Human Rights Watch expressed serious concerns about the restrictions imposed on girls’ education and called on UN member states to take practical steps to end human rights violations in Afghanistan.

Approaching the fourth anniversary of its return to power in Afghanistan, the caretaker government, repeatedly said that the issues related to women’s and girls’ education are internal matters to be addressed according to the principles of Sharia law.
