Trump Accuses US Media of Spreading ‘Fake News’ Over Planned Meeting with Putin

DID Press: U.S. President Donald Trump accused US media outlets of fabricating reports regarding his planned meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also criticized former National Security Advisor John Bolton for remarks suggesting that Moscow had already “won” before the talks were arranged.

In a statement posted on his social media platform, Trump alleged that many U.S. media organizations oppose ending the war in Ukraine and are influenced by arms manufacturers and what he described as “merchants of war.” He claimed these outlets have been critical of calls for a ceasefire and direct negotiations with Putin, and have sought to undermine his credibility ahead of the meeting.

“The media’s coverage of my meeting with Putin is extremely unfair,” Trump wrote. “They constantly quote disgraced and failed people like John Bolton… but we win at everything.”

Trump further asserted that even if he were to secure concessions such as Moscow and Leningrad “for free” as part of a deal with Russia, the media would still find grounds to criticize him.
