Right-Hand Drive Vehicles ordered to be Out of Kabul
DID Press: Abdul Mateen Qane, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior of Afghanistan’s caretaker government, announced on Saturday, August 30, that owners of right-hand drive vehicles must comply strictly with new regulations issued by the ministry.

According to the statement, owners of vehicles previously registered in Kabul or other provinces and issued temporary stickers are required to obtain temporary driving permits and number plates from the Traffic Department within a short period.
The Ministry warned that all right-hand drive vehicles without stickers must leave Kabul no later than August 30, 2025. Afterward, they must be registered and issued stickers in the provinces where they intend to operate.
The statement further noted that vehicles without legal documents will not be allowed to enter capital Kabul under any circumstances, and only vehicles previously registered with the provincial Traffic Department may enter the city to obtain temporary plates.
Under the new regulations, right-hand drive vehicles registered in one province are only permitted to operate within that province, while travel to other provinces prohibited.
The Ministry emphasized that right-hand drive vehicles have been a major cause of deadly traffic accidents and may face further restrictions in the future, urging citizens to refrain from purchasing such vehicles.
Finally, the Ministry said that after the specified date, registration of right-hand drive vehicles in Kabul will be halted, and legal action will be taken against violators.
