Modi to Xi: India Committed to Improving ties with China

DID Press: Indian PM Narendra Modi, in a key meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, said that New Delhi is committed to improving relations with Beijing.

“We are committed to progressing our relations based on mutual respect, trust, and sensitivities,” Modi told Xi on the sidelines of a regional security forum on Sunday, August 31. According to international media.

Modi noted that a climate of “peace and stability” has been established along the Himalayan border.

He added that an agreement on border management has been reached between the two countries but did not provide further details.

Modi also said that direct flights between India and China are “being resumed.”

China, in turn, has agreed to lift export restrictions on rare earth elements, fertilizers, and tunnel-boring machinery.

The bilateral meeting came just five days after Washington imposed heavy tariffs of 50% on Indian goods.

Analysts suggest that Xi and Modi are seeking to present a united front against Western pressure.
