WHO: Services for Quake Victims May Halt Without Funding

DID Press: World Health Organization (WHO) announced that it faces a shortfall of three million dollars to continue providing life-saving services to earthquake victims in eastern Afghanistan.

In a report, WHO warned that an additional three million dollars in funding is urgently needed to sustain aid efforts for those affected by the earthquake in eastern Afghanistan.

The organization emphasized that lack of funds can delay critical life-saving operations and increase the risk of infectious disease outbreaks among vulnerable and displaced populations.

The report described the health system in the affected areas as being in a “fragile” state, with an urgent need for financial support to protect citizens’ lives, prevent potential epidemics, and ensure that the response to the humanitarian crisis is not slowed.

According to WHO, the required funding will be allocated to services such as trauma care, primary healthcare, public health interventions, and the continuous delivery of essential medicines and medical supplies.

The agency urged the international community to provide the necessary resources as soon as possible to ensure effective assistance reaches those in need in the earthquake-affected regions.
