Poll Identified 3 Equal Priorities to Strengthen Muslim Unity

DID Press: A recent poll conducted during the Week of Unity reveals that participants are evenly split on the most effective approach to fostering greater unity and cohesion among Muslims. The responses highlight three equally prioritized strategies: interfaith dialogue among scholars, enhanced political and economic cooperation, and combating extremist ideologies.

According to the poll results, 33% of respondents identified holding joint meetings among scholars of different Islamic sects as the top priority. Supporters of this approach believe that direct and open dialogue between religious leaders can reduce misunderstandings and promote intellectual and social convergence within the Muslim world.

Another 33% of participants favored strengthening political and economic cooperation among Muslim countries. This group emphasized that shared interests can be better served through coordinated policies and economic partnerships, which can translate abstract unity into tangible outcomes.

Interestingly, the remaining 33% of respondents viewed countering extremist and divisive movements as the most critical step toward unity. They argue that tackling hate speech and radical ideologies lays the necessary foundation for social and psychological security—essential conditions for unity.

Notably, the option of producing joint media and cultural content received zero support. Analysts suggest this may reflect a lack of confidence in the effectiveness of media or a diminished perception of cultural initiatives among respondents.

The findings suggest that while approaches may vary, participants of the poll collectively emphasized dialogue, practical cooperation, and the fight against extremism as the three key pillars—each viewed with equal importance—for advancing Muslim unity.
