EU Allocates €4 M for Humanitarian Air Support in Afghanistan
DID Press: The European Union allocated €4 million to the World Food Programme’s (WFP) air services to help deliver humanitarian assistance to remote areas of Afghanistan.

The funding aims to strengthen relief operations by facilitating transport of aid workers and the delivery of life-saving assistance to hard-to-reach and crisis-affected regions.
Welcoming the support, WFP said the contribution will ensure the continuation of its air services, which are critical for transporting emergency supplies to areas inaccessible by other means.
According to the agency, reliable air transport remains vital for reaching Afghanistan’s most remote and vulnerable communities, providing both relief cargo and safe mobility for humanitarian workers.
François Guémenne, head of the EU’s humanitarian aid office in Afghanistan, emphasized the importance of these operations: “This service is a lifeline for delivering humanitarian aid to remote areas. The EU’s support will help maintain and strengthen this vital capacity.”
