Taliban Reopen Afghanistan Consulate in Bonn, Germany
DID Press: In a recent development, one of the diplomats appointed by Afghanistan’s Taliban-led interim government has reopened Afghanistan consulate in Bonn, Germany.

Sources reported that the consulate, which had previously been closed by diplomats of the former Afghanistan government, is now being reactivated under Mustafa Hashemi, a representative of the Taliban administration. Additional Taliban-affiliated diplomats are expected to be stationed at the office in the near future.
The consulate was initially shuttered after former Afghanistan diplomats returned its keys to the German Foreign Ministry via mail, protesting Germany’s gradual acceptance of Taliban representatives.
Germany has not officially recognized the Taliban as Afghanistan’s legitimate government, but the practical handover of the consulate to Taliban-appointed diplomats has sparked discussions about a possible shift in Berlin’s policy toward Kabul.
