Trump Says Resolving Pakistan–Afghanistan Clashes to Mark His ‘Ninth War Ended’

DID Press: US President Donald Trump announced that he intends to focus on ending the ongoing conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan after returning from his trip to Israel for the release of hostages. He said the initiative will mark the “ninth war” he has stopped.

Speaking before departing Washington for the Middle East, Trump said: “I hear there’s a war now going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I said I’ll have to wait till I get back. I am doing another one. Because I am good at solving wars. This will be the ninth one I stop.”

Trump added that in the first year of his second term, he plans to resolve this dispute just as he claims to have ended several long-standing conflicts before.

“Think about India and Pakistan — wars that went on for 31, 32, even 37 years, with millions killed in every country and I got every one of those done, for the most part, within a day. It’s pretty good,” he said.

The president emphasized that his goal is not to win the Nobel Peace Prize, but to “save millions of lives.” Critics, however, note that his strong support for Israel has resulted in the deaths of around 70,000 people in Gaza.

Referring to 2024 Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, Trump said: “To be fair to the Nobel Committee, this year’s prize was meant for 2024, but some say they might make an exception because of great things done in 2025. But I didn’t do this for the Nobel — I did it to save lives.”

Trump’s remarks follow earlier claims that he has already “ended eight wars,” though the White House has not specified which conflicts he was referring to. In previous statements, Trump has cited several regional peace agreements and ceasefires across the Middle East as examples of his efforts.
